The author of an Iowa travel book that features multiple locations in the area will visit Fort Dodge on Tuesday.

Sara Broers, author of “100 things to do in Iowa before you die” will be signing books and discussing his favorite travel spots from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Fort Dodge Public Library near City Square.

The book features articles on the Gaga and Hoo Korean Restaurant, Lizard Creek Mountain Bike Trails, Gypsum City OHV Park, and the Fort Dodge Grain Silo Mural.

Also included in various book listings are the Brushy Creek State Recreation Area, the Dariette, Community Orchards, Lizard Creek Water Trails, and Amigo’s. The book contains several photos of the community, including the photo on the main title page showing the author and others in front of the grain elevator mural.

“We are delighted that Sara has decided to highlight some of the attractions and businesses in our area,” said Kerrie Kuiper, executive director of the Fort Dodge Convention and Visitors Bureau. “We keep seeing other people come to Fort Dodge and they are pleasantly surprised at the amount and quality of things to do in our area.”

Broers took part in the Outdoor Adventures Familiarization Tour organized by the Tourist and Convention Bureau in June 2021.

During the tour, office staff and volunteers took travel writers mountain biking, fishing, ORV driving, kayaking and hiking. They also went to restaurants and visited other local sites.

Copies of “100 things to do in Iowa before you die” are available at the Convention and Visitors Bureau, 24 N. Ninth St., for $19.95. They will also be available at the book signing event on Tuesday.
