Novelist Richard Zappa will be signing copies of his dramatic thrillers, “Identical Misfortune” and “The Easter Murders,” from 4-6 p.m. Friday, May 20, at Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.
In “Identical Misfortune,” identical twins separated at birth couldn’t be more different: Ann is a loving wife and mother, while Veronica is a heartless sociopath. When Veronica learns that Ann married into a wealthy family, she manipulates parents and the police into believing she is Ann, then stages Ann’s suicide, fleeing with millions to Europe. and a new life as a wealthy socialite.
His pursuer, Jo Crowder, is a New Orleans homicide detective whose investigation reveals one shocking revelation after another, and whose only chance to stop the murder is to turn his back on the law that she swore to enforce.
In “The Easter Murders”, a serial killer chooses Easter week to leave pregnant teenage girls dead outside Catholic churches in New Orleans. This time, Crowder pursues a trail of evidence that leads to the arrest of Miguel Diaz, a 20-year-old Latino nursing student.
However, his gut tells him that the evidence was filed by the real murderer, so, ignoring orders from his superiors, Crowder continues to dig. She suspects Monsignor Rossi, who has dubious links with the victims. But can she prove the cleric a cold-blooded murderer in time to save Diaz?
