Disney’s Encanto wins Best Animated Feature at the 2022 Golden Globes

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 60th film, about an enchanted family with magical gifts, has been announced the winner by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association on Twitter. Unlike previous ceremonies, this year’s event is private and has not been televised or broadcast live. Encanto won the Golden Globe on a Danish documentary To flee (Neon), Italian film of sea monsters Luca (Disney-Pixar), drama in Czech language My Sunny Maad (Totem Films), and action-fantasy Raya and the last dragon (Walt Disney Studios).

Encanto and composer Germine Franco received a nomination for Best Original Score – Film, alongside Alexandre Desplat The French dispatch (Searchlight Images), Jonny Greenwood’s The power of the dog (Netflix), Alberto Iglesis’ Parallel mothers (Sony Pictures Classic) and winner Hans Zimmer for Dune (Images from Warner Bros.).

EncantoThe original song from, “” Dos Oruguitas “by Lin-Manuel Miranda, competed for Best Original Song – Movie, alongside” Be Alive “(from king richard, Warner Bros.), “Down to Joy” (from Belfast, Focus Features), “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)” (from Respect, MGM / United Artists Releasing) and winner “No Time to Die” (from No time to die, MGM / United Artists).

Since 2006, Disney has received the Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature 12 times. Disney-pixar Soul won the award in 2021, the latest in a list of winners that includes coconut, Frozen, and Zootopia, from Encanto co-director Byron Howard.

Encanto “Tells the story of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a bustling city, in a wonderful and charming place called Encanto”, we read in the official synopsis from Disney. “The magic of Encanto has blessed every child in the family with a unique gift ranging from super strength to the power to heal – every child except one, Mirabel (Stephanie Beatriz). But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the Encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she, the only ordinary Madrigal, may well be the last hope of her exceptional family.
