It’s no joke: Joe Gatto is leaving “Imppractical Jokers”.
Gatto blames “some issues in my personal life” for his break-up with the show he hosted for 10 years – and the woman he married in 2013.
The 45-year-old comic made his announcement in an Instagram post which he admitted to be “long and more serious” than what he usually writes online.
“Along with my friends, I have dedicated a decade of my life to building this franchise and I couldn’t be more proud of what has been accomplished,” said Gatto. “However, due to some issues in my personal life, I have to step away.”
According to Gatto, he now wants to focus on co-parenting the son and daughter he shares with his wife Bessy. He called his connections to his colleagues “Impractical Jokers” right after the connections he shares with his family members and expressed his confidence that these jokers would continue the work they had started together on TruTV.
“I know they will continue to make the world laugh,” he said.
Gatto said last year that his six dogs, which he wrote a book about, were helping him through the pandemic at his Long Island home. Several of these dogs have appeared on “Impractical Jokers”.
He had eight dogs while writing “The Dogfather: My Love of Dogs, Desserts and Growing Up Italian”, but two have since died.
