“Brave” is a children’s book by local author Kathleen Davis.

New Franklin resident Kathleen Davis recently published a new children’s book to help kids overcome fears and be brave at night.

“Brave” was written and published by Davis, who recently moved to Franklin from Jacksonville, Fla., And is a mother of two.

Her children inspired her to write the book, her first that she published.

“My kids went through a phase where they weren’t sleeping and woke me up all night to different nighttime fears,” she said. “I had two perfect little characters running around my house. How could I not write a book about them?

With Halloween just around the corner, Davis hopes it’s a great time for parents to read his book to their little ones.

“Brave” is a brightly illustrated multicultural book by Rekha Salin. Based in Bahrain, she visually brought what Davis wanted in the book to life.

“My ultimate goal is to remind all children that they are safe, that they are loved and that they are courageous,” said Davis. “Even if a child’s home is not ideal, in the end God is watching over him. They can always trust him. There will come a time in every person’s life when there is something unsure of us. ‘Brave’ is a little reminder that we have this, and if not, God has us.

Davis has self-published “Brave,” however, for her second book she tries to connect with a local agent and publisher.

She holds an English degree from the University of Florida and a Masters in Education. She taught for 10 years before deciding to stay home with her children.

Writing is a passion for Davis, and she hopes it is the start of a new career.

“Brave” can be found on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. The book is available for download as an eBook, and Kindle Unlimited readers can get it for free.
