Watchung Booksellers is hosting three events this month in its free virtual series Evening with the Author, as well as one session in its free children’s book series Storytime in the Green.
On Wednesday, September 22 at 7:30 p.m., chefs Peter Hoffman and Kate Lebo will discuss their new culinary memories, “What’s Good? A Memoir in Fourteen Ingredients ”and“ The Book of Difficile Fruit: Arguments for the Tart, Tender, and Unruly (with recipes) ”by Lebo.
Hoffman will tell the story of his upbringing, professional training, and development as a chef and owner of Savoy and Black Forty restaurants, as well as explorations of the cultural, historical and botanical histories of the foods we eat.
Lebo blends natural, culinary, medical and personal history in his work, offering insight into relationships, self-care, land stewardship, medical and botanical history and more.
On Thursday September 23 at 7:30 p.m., author Ian Frazier will discuss his new essay book, “Cranial fracture, ”And will be joined by fellow Montclairiens and New Yorkers writer DT Max.
In “Cranial fractureFrazier has gathered his thoughts on today’s most pressing issues, from climate change (what did Al Gore say at his conference on rising temperatures in hell?) To Texas (what to do with Texas?) .
Farah Jasmin Griffon, author of “Read Until You Understand: The Deep Wisdom of Black Life and Literature“, will speak with Erica Armstrong Dunbar on Wednesday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m.
Griffin, who has spent years rooted in the culture of the black genius and the legacy of the books his father left him, will share a life of discovery, mingling memory, history and art while asking us to fight the continuing struggle for black freedom and the ongoing project of American democracy.
On Friday, September 24, at 4 p.m., author Sarah Thomas is the special guest of the Green Story Time children’s book series.
Thomas is the author of “Kalamata cuisine, The first book in a new series that encourages children to be adventurous both in their food choices and in their daily lives.
